The Teesiders may struggle to get the better of Arsenal this weekend.
Danny Mills in action for Leeds
Former Middlesbrough defender Danny Mills has been commenting on the Teesiders meeting with Arsenal this weekend.
The former England international, who spent the 2003-04 season on loan at Boro from Leeds United, was speaking to Sky Sports News HQ this week (20/10/2016) about Middlesbrough’s game with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow.
Mills is certainly concerned that if Middlesbrough try to play their style of football against Arsenal, it could be a long afternoon:
“Middlesbrough’s problem is scoring goals. It’s never easy, when you come up to the Championship, obviously Karanka has a way of playing.
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka looks dejected
“He wants to play good football. That’s the last thing you want to do against Arsenal. The confidence they’ve got at the moment it’s very, very difficult.
“If Boro try to outplay Arsenal I think, sadly, it will end in a serious defeat.”
It is of course an understandable concern. Arsenal are currently in a rich vein of form and thrashed Ludogorets Razgrad 6-0 in the Champions League this week.
Middlesbrough will be hoping to keep Arsenal at bay but as Mills alluded they are not a team that look capable of setting up to spoil and scrape.
But the club are currently sitting 17th in the Premier League table and have not won in their last seven games in all competitions.
Perhaps Boro could surprise most neutrals and Mills and manage to keep Arsenal at bay. However, the fear will be that they will try to outplay Arsenal and come undone.
