Former Leeds United full-back Danny Mills has been discussing the club’s contract rebel Charlie Taylor this week.
The left-back is out of contract in the summer and, despite being offered a two-year extension by Leeds, the club have accepted he is likely to depart in the coming weeks.
West Brom are the favourites to sign him, as they attempt to negotiate a deal away from a tribunal with a fee of £4 million being mentioned as Leeds’ asking price by the Express.
Taylor refused to play in Leeds’ final game of the season v Wigan Athletic, a move which incensed fans and management at Elland Road.

Talking to the Express 39-year-old Mills, who played four seasons at Elland Road, suggested how Taylor should have handled the situation:
“What he should have done is gone to the manager, sat down with him and said ‘this is my predicament’. Then you see what Garry Monk says. He would probably understand.
“Clearly Taylor didn’t have that conversation, he just said he didn’t want to play. And then that annoys the club and makes him look foolish.
“And it all could have been avoided. So whoever advised him, whoever that is, didn’t do a very good job.”
The situation involving Taylor has been a frustrating one for Leeds, who would have wanted to keep their star left-back in their hunt for promotion next term.

But he seemingly has his heart set on Premier League football next term, having seen contemporaries Lewis Cook and Sam Byram do similar.
It is just a shame his departure was not more amicable.
