Danny Mills has given his take on Leeds United attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez on Sportology TV.
The former Leeds star has said that Hernandez, who can also operate as a winger, was brilliant for Marcelo Bielsa’s side over the past two seasons.
However, Mills, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has raised his doubts over the 35-year-old amid his injury problems of late.
Mills has also praised Rodrigo and Raphinha, both of whom joined Leeds in the summer of 2020.
The Englishman said on Sportology TV: “Rodrigo has come in, and he looks like a really good player. He has got that little bit of quality in there.
“Pablo Hernandez, who has been sensational for the past couple of seasons, is not getting any younger. When you look at him, he looks an awful lot older than he is.
“He doesn’t look mid-30s, does he? He is starting to suffer from the odd injury. I think Raphinha looks like he would be a player.”
Relying less on Pablo Hernandez
Hernandez is a very creative and experienced footballer who remains an important player in the Leeds team despite being in his mid-30s.
According to WhoScored, the 35-year-old scored nine goals and provided nine assists in the Championship last season, while during the 2018-19 campaign, he scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists in the league.
Hernandez’s experience in big games and of playing in the Premier League before will come handy for Leeds this season, but the Whites need to rely less on the 35-year-old in the coming weeks and months. Perhaps Rodrigo could make the number 10 role his own this campaign.
