Danny Mills has told talkSPORT (30/12/20 at 8:40 am) that Marcelo Bielsa’s simply ‘not interested’ in dipping into the January market for Leeds after being told by Ray Parlour that Diego Costa would be a ‘great’ signing for them.
At the age of 32, Costa is to be a free-agent in January and he can put pen-to-paper at any club he wishes after leaving Atletico Madrid.
Given Costa’s status, it’s understandable that a return to the Premier League would be muted, as Parlour thinks the former Chelsea man would be ‘competition’ for the ‘excellent’ Patrick Bamford.
Ray Parlour asked: “Do you think he [Bielsa] will look at this transfer window? Diego Costa would be great. He would give a little bit of competition to Bamford, who has been excellent this year.”
“It’s not what Bielsa does,” said Mills. “He’s not interested. In the last two transfer windows, he has brought players in and he’s not used them at all.
“Jean Kevin Augustin needed two or three months to get up to speed. To get up to the fitness levels that he wants. To get up to the understanding of how he wants people to play. By the time, he has brought them in January and they understand what they are doing they only have one month left.
“So, it’s pretty much pointless. Unless there is somebody out there that is ready to go straight into the way he plays. I think because they are doing well, it’s very unlikely they will bring somebody in.”

If there is an area that Leeds need to perhaps look at then it’s the defensive areas where they are already light and recent injuries aren’t helping them.
But given Bielsa’s ways he will perhaps, at best, add one player to his ranks next month and he’ll end up spending very little time on the pitch.
As Bielsa has proven with the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas, he prefers to use their versatile skills to effect rather than have depth behind those positions.
