Leeds United will be pushing for promotion again under Marcelo Bielsa after he extended his contract at Elland Road.

TalkSport pundit Danny Mills has suggested that it wasn’t Andrea Radrizanni’s choice to ‘extend’ Marcelo Bielsa’s deal as Leeds United manager.
Leeds confirmed on their official Twitter account that chairman Radrizanni has exercised the option to extend Bielsa’s deal for a second season running.
Despite missing out on promotion to the Premier League, the Elland Road faithful were eager to stay at the Yorkshire outfit given the job he had done with such a limited budget this season.
Speaking to Jim White on TalkSport (28/05/201 at 12:05 pm), former Whites defender Mills offered his thoughts on Bielsa staying at the club for another campaign.
“I think it’s great news,” Mills told TalkSport. “I’m not sure it was Radrizanni’s choice to extend that deal in the end. I think it just came down to the end to what Bielsa wanted in terms of transfer targets.
“There will be a limited budget. Leeds are not awash with cash. Radrizzani’s pockets are not as deep as people first thought they were going to be. But for what he’s done this season on a limited budget, you couldn’t ask him to do the same again and tie one hand behind his back. You have got to add two or three players to that squad to give him a chance next season.
“I think negotiations were all around that and who the targets were and what cash they would have available.”

With Bielsa staying at the club, Leeds will now be focusing on the summer transfer window and aiming to bulk up their squad for next season.
One of the areas Leeds struggled with this season was Bielsa having to deal with a lack of depth in a team that was required to work so hard with and without the ball.
But that could now change if they can get some fresh legs through the door because if they do then they’ll be a serious threat for those promotion places.
