Leeds United are fifth in the Championship at the moment.

Danny Mills has told LUTV that Leeds United will be in the Premier League “for a long time” when they do finally get back to the big time.

United are a huge club and the fans will argue that they have been absent from the Premier League for far too long, but that could change this year.

Leeds are fifth in the Championship and there is genuine hope that they could end their 12-year wait for a top-flight return this season, with Garry Monk’s side in fine form so far.

The Whites have turned Elland Road into something of a fortress again and the supporters have reminded English football just how passionate they can be during home games.

And Mills, who spent five years with the West Yorkshire club prior to their relegation in 2004, says everything is in place for his former club to ensure they re-establish themselves as a top-flight side when they finally get back there.

“The set-up of this club – the ground, the training ground – everything is geared for Premier League life. Once they get there, I think they’ll be there for a long time,” he told LUTV.

Mills may be correct, but staying in the Premier League could be tougher than getting there in the first place, but it does bode well that the current manager – who spent two years at Swansea – has a decent bit of experience of managing a top-flight club.
