Sky Sports pundit Danny Mills has lauded the qualities of Everton defenders Micheal Keane and Lucas Digne, who have helped their team produce a number of good performances in recent weeks.

Over the weekend, they helped Marco Silva’s side thump Manchester United 4-0, with Digne netting the third goal of the game with a wonderful strike from outside the area following a corner.

Speaking to Football Centre on Sky Sports News (22/04/2019 12:55 pm), former Premier League defender Mills admitted that he has been impressed with Keane, who is now proving his worth and Digne, who is technically ‘exceptional’

“Micheal Keane is beginning to show why Everton took him,” Mills told Sky Sports News. “He is starting to show some more promise, with those performances for England starting to have more confidence.

“Lucas Digne, I have seen him for a long, long time. I remember going back to the France under-21’s. Technically, he has always been exceptional. You don’t go to Barcelona unless you’re a very good player. But again, he is now starting to fit in as Everton move forward.”

There is no doubt that at Goodison Park in recent weeks the Toffees have been showcasing their talents by beating the likes of United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

But they have then let themselves down by losing at already-relegated Fulham or even blowing a two-goal lead at then relegation-threatened Newcastle United.

There are three games of the season remaining for Silva’s side and he will be hoping his team can secure a top-seven finish in the Premier League.

At this moment in time, they are one point behind seventh-placed Watford, who netted a late equaliser against Southampton on Tuesday night.
