Danny Mills said on Sky Sports that Leeds United were fortunate to keep 11 players on the pitch in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Lewis Grabban poked home an equaliser with 12 minutes left to cancel out Pablo Hernandez’s opener for the hosts at Elland Road.

Prior to that, Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips was booked for a rash challenge on Tiago Silva shortly before the half-hour mark.

And former Whites defender Mills said on Sky Sports that the ‘reckless and dangerous’ Phillips was a touch lucky not to receive a straight red.

He said: “[Phillips] is very fortunate. If Silva’s leg is half a yard forward [it could have been a bad foul]. The referee is running the game by a case of consequence because he wasn’t hurt.

“It’s a scissor tackle. It’s reckless and dangerous.”

On the balance of play, Leeds dominated the game and definitely should have picked up a second successive Championship win, after kicking off their campaign with three points at Bristol City a week ago.

But it was a case of Marcelo Bielsa’s side not being ruthless enough to take their chances in front of goal – the same story as last season.

It’s a very bad habit for the West Yorkshire side and one they need to eradicate completely.
