Leeds United’s season ended in heartbreaking fashion when they were beaten by Derby County.

Danny Mills has stated that Leeds United need to strengthen at centre-back and in the centre-forward position this summer.
The TalkSport pundit questioned whether the ‘excellent’ Kemar Roofe can score them 20+ goals a season which would ‘catapult’ them to promotion next term.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side narrowly missed out on automatic promotion during the recently concluded campaign and then they were knocked out of the play-off semi-final by Derby.
Speaking to The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSport (20/05/2019 at 8:10 am), Mills shared what his former club need to do in the summer in order to take that next step.
“Apparently he was buying a car in Leeds over the weekend,” Mills told TalkSport. “I think people are hoping he stays. If he does stay, he needs some money. He’s on a huge contract for a Championship manager, but they have to strengthen.
“They have to bring in, I believe a centre-half and they have got to try and get a striker that’s going to get them 20+ goals a season to get them out of the Championship. That’s the biggest problem.
“Roofe has been excellent, he’s almost playing out of position this season, but 14, 15 goals is not really enough to catapult you to those one and two spots and get you that automatic promotion zone. If he stays he needs two or three top signings to go again next season and keep a hold of what he has.”

In previous seasons, Roofe has been played out wide or just behind the striker, but since Bielsa’s arrival last summer, he has been deployed up top.
Added with that, Patrick Bamford has also played the striker role, but during the campaign, they both suffered injuries which didn’t allow them to showcase their true potential.
Despite the heartbreaking end to Leeds’ season, the Elland Road faithful will no doubt want the club to keep hold of their manager and bulk up their squad and If they do that then they’ll be a serious threat for promotion once again next term.
