Leeds United take on promotion rivals Sheffield United at Elland Road on Saturday.
Danny Mills has claimed that Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford possesses the ‘calmness’ to guide the club to the Premier League this season.
On Saturday afternoon, Bamford will be lining up front against third-placed Sheffield United in what is set to be one of the biggest games of the season at Elland Road.
Three points for the home team and they can push their rivals out of the automatic picture. But a defeat could dampen their hopes of finishing in the Championship’s top two.
Speaking to the Match Centre on Sky Sports News (14/03/2019 at 11:30 am), Mills pin-pointed Bamford as the player who can deal with the pressure when the big moments come about.
“He has a great mindset,” Bamford told Sky Sports News. “He has that calmness when they need it and that’s what you need in this final push.
“When you get a chance, a big chance, you need the composure to tuck it away. Not to snatch at it, drag it wide because you are a little bit too tense and hopefully that would lead Leeds to the Premier League.”
For large parts of the season, Bamford was on the sidelines with an injury whilst striker Kemar Roofe provided the goods up front.
But since Roofe’s injury, his striker counterpart returned to action and started scoring valuable goals for his promotion-chasing side.
In his last eight matches, Bamford has found the back of the net on five occasions for Leeds, supplying one assist in the process [transfermarkt].
The former Chelsea Youth product will be looking to continue that run when Chris Wilder’s team come to town.
