After winning the European Super Cup, Liverpool clinched all three points against Southampton over the weekend.

Danny Mills has urged Liverpool to stop ‘moaning’ about fixture congestion because he believes over the course of the season it ‘works itself out’.
The former Premier League defender remarkably claimed that every team starts the season at the ‘same time’ and then finish on the ‘same day’, therefore, Jurgen Klopp’s side shouldn’t be making excuses about being overworked.
Liverpool’s front three were involved in major tournaments over the summer, and as a result, have had little rest since the end of last season, which ended in June for Klopp and his players.
Speaking on TalkSport (18/08/2019 at 2:30 pm), Mills simply wasn’t having any of Liverpool’s ‘moaning’ regarding fixture congestion.
“I didn’t understand why they didn’t go straight to Southampton [from Istanbul],” Mills told TalkSport. “I don’t understand why they went back to Liverpool. Klopp was moaning, they have got to travel again. You have known that for some time.
“They talk about fixture congestion. You pretty much start the season at the same time as everybody else and you finish it on the same day. Sometimes you get three days rest and sometimes you get two days rest. But over the course of the season, it works itself out, doesn’t?! That’s just how it is.
“If that’s your choice [to go back to Liverpool from Istanbul rather than straight to Southampton] then don’t moan about travelling. It’s four hours to Istanbul. It’s no different to jumping on a train or jumping in a car. The travelling is just excuses.”

Mills’ comments will not go down well with the Liverpool supporters because there is no logic to what he is saying.
Whilst some teams in the Premier League have played two matches this season, Klopp’s side have already played four, and some of their best players were involved in major tournaments over the summer.
Added with that, whilst most teams finished their campaign in May, both Liverpool and Tottenham ended their season at the start of June because they were involved in the Champions League final.
