Leeds United are only one point outside the Championship play offs as things stand.

Danny Mills has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on 2nd November on TalkSPORT, that he believes Massimo Cellino may inject more funds into Leeds United in the January transfer window.

Leeds have made a highly encouraging start to the season, and they currently sit just one point outside the play offs in the Championship.

The Whites are one of the form teams in the second tier, and they have won eight of their last 11 matches.

With attendances and excitement at Elland Road rising, Mills feels that Cellino may believe this is the year that Leeds can finally get back to the Premier League.

And the former Leeds defender believes that the Italian owner may be convinced to provide Monk with money to spend to strengthen his squad further during the next transfer window.

“It’s brilliant to see,” Mills said. “I think they play Newcastle in a couple of weeks, and they have sold 28,000 tickets already. It’s phenomenal. Monk has come in and he’s starting to turn things around. It’s fantastic.

“I think the owner might give him a bit more money to spend in the transfer window, and there’s no reason why they can’t make the play offs.”

Leeds won their latest match against Burton Albion 2-0, to move up to ninth in the Championship table.

Monk appears to have got Leeds playing some of their finest football in many years, and optimism is flooding back to the Yorkshire side.

Leeds are next in action on Saturday, and if they are able to beat Norwich City at Carrow Road, Monk’s side could move up into the top six for the first time this season.
