The Premier League table is starting to take shape but after last night’s victory for Burnley, Danny Mills feels any of ten sides can be relegated this term.
Burnley’s Michael Keane celebrates scoring their second goal with George Boyd and Stephen Ward
Danny Mills was speaking as part of BBC 5 live’s commentary team for Burnley v Watford on Monday night.
Mills heaped praise on Sean Dyche’s side who without creating a huge number of opportunities, dominated the majority of the game at Turf Moor against a very poor Watford side on the night, who only eight days ago put in a superb display against Manchester United.
Mills said on 5 Live: “Look at tenth downwards, probably take Leicester out of it maybe, they should be good enough to not be in that scrap but the rest is any three from ten really.”

The top eight will look to pull away with the sheer power and strength in depth within their respective sides however from tenth and below it could be a scrap with crucial games such as West Ham v Middlesbrough, Sunderland v West Brom and Watford v Bournemouth it would be too early to suggest they’re six pointers but these games are crucial for those sides who will be in the bottom half of the table.
Monday night’s showing from The Hornets was one that lacked any kind of intensity, purpose and imagination culminating into a very lacklustre performance. Taking into account how Walter Mazzarri’s side played against West Ham United and Manchester United, it’s certainly a blow to stop their fine run.

It may be too early to suggest potential relegation threatened sides after six games but judging by Monday night’s showing, the so called ‘lesser clubs’ in the Premier League will have to aim for consistency if they want to remain in the top flight.
