Seven-time title winner Danny McGrain is excited about the potential that current Celtic star Kieran Tierney seems to boast.

Celtic legend Danny McGrain has suggested that he is excited to see how good a player current Hoops star Kieran Tierney could become over the next couple of years as he has all the attributes to go far, the Evening Times reports.

Tierney has taken around two seasons to go from academy prospect to being arguably the best left-back in the Scottish Premiership, and is now receiving international recognition also.

And with Tierney only turning 20 over the last couple of days, it appears that he has more than enough to get considerably better still. And McGrain – who was part of the Celtic side that won seven league titles during his time at Parkhead – has no doubt that he will make significant improvements in the near future.

“He is only 20 and is such a good player and such a nice guy. He’s one for now and one for the future,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“He really is a tremendous player. Consistency is the stamp of a good player and that’s exactly what he produces for Celtic. He is just getting better and better and I can’t wait to see him in a couple of years.”

Celtic have perhaps one of their most star-studded teams for a number of years, and thus, the supporters may be concerned about how long they will be able to hold onto the likes of Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair given the impact that they have made.

And that arguably highlights how highly Tierney is rated as keeping hold of him over the coming years is likely to be as much of a priority for Brendan Rodgers as keeping any of their other key men.

And if they do keep Tierney for a significant spell, it would be hard to imagine that the academy graduate will not come close to, or perhaps surpass the number of league titles that McGrain won during his hugely successful spell with the club.
