Liverpool hitman Roberto Firmino has been in excellent form this season.

Reds striker Danny Ings sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and raved about the quality of his teammate Roberto Firmino, labelling the Brazilian as ‘fantastic’.

The 25-year-old has struggled with both form and fitness since making his move from Burnley to Liverpool in the summer of 2015, and his path to the starting XI is currently being blocked by the brilliant Firmino.

The 26-year-old striker joined the Reds from Hoffenheim at the same time Ings moved to Anfield, in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £29 million, and he has proven himself to be a fantastic asset for the Merseysiders, chipping in with 44 goals and 34 assists in 127 appearances for the club.

Ings raved about the Brazil international, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website, highlighting just how important he is to the Liverpool team:

“He (Firmino) is a fantastic player with the way he plays and the amount of work he does for the team, not just on the ball but off the ball as well. They are the things I have to look at and learn from, and that’s what I did over the months I was out. Being back training with them every day, you get used to the patterns the manager wants and the intensity he wants. I’m learning every day from all the lads here and trying to be the best player I can be.”

If Ings can get anywhere near the performance levels of Firmino, he will surely stand an excellent chance of forcing his way into the Reds starting XI, but that will, of course, be easier said than done.
