Leeds United have been linked to Liverpool’s Danny Ings.

Danny Ings is a transfer target for Leeds United, ESPN reported this week.

The Liverpool striker could be available having barely figured this season for the Reds.

While he would be an intriguing addition, Leeds would likely have to switch to a 4-4-2 formation to get the best out of both he and Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

And the problem with this is, it becomes hard to fit in Leeds’s glut of creative players.

For instance this balanced XI leaves no room for Pablo Hernandez, Samu Saiz or Kemar Roofe, who have each been integral at different points this season to the team’s success.

Saiz, Hernandez and Roofe are all attacking players, who do not fit the mould of wingers.

It is not practical to shove any of them out on the wing in a traditional 4-4-2 formation and expect them to track back sufficiently, without losing their attacking qualities.

Each are best in a 4-4-2 playing in support of a striker, and if Leeds want to play this system, it may have to be Ings or Lasogga, rather than both together.

It is a tactical conundrum Leeds would have to solve, and could mean a switch to 3-5-2 could be the answer.
