Alan Hardy has said on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy should have signed Danny Ings before he joined Aston Villa from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

The former Notts County owner believes that ex-Liverpool striker Ings would have been the perfect replacement for Harry Kane, who is wanted by Manchester City.

The Telegraph have reported that City are planning to make another move for Kane this week.

Earlier this month, Villa paid Premier League rivals Southampton £25 million in transfer fee for 29-year-old striker Ings, as reported by Sky Sports.

Ings has been brilliant for Villa already and has hit the ground running.

The 29-year-old England international striker has scored two goals in two Premier League appearances for the Villans.

The former Liverpool striker scored 12 goals and gave four assists in 26 league starts for Southampton last season.

Back in 2019-20, Ings scored 22 goals and gave two assists in 32 league starts.

When fit, Ings is a very good striker who is clinical, and Villa have done great business in signing him.

Villa are a better and more potent team with Ings in it, and it is already showing even after just two games into the new Premier League season.
