The pundit took to Twitter after Everton’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

Danny Higginbotham took to Twitter to criticise a ‘very poor’ Aston Villa side on Saturday afternoon after the Midlands outfit’s 4-0 loss to Everton in the Premier League.

And he was amazed Rudy Gestede didn’t start for Villa to offer them an outlet for their counterattacks.

Higginbotham, a pundit for both Sky Sports and talkSPORT among others, feels Villa’s game plan didn’t work against the Toffees but believes they could have done a little better had their target man started the game.

A harsh return to reality for Remi Garde, then, whose first game in charge of Aston Villa went so well – he earned a 0-0 draw against Manchester City.

There was none of that defensive solidity here and Everton were allowed to fire freely against a Villa side that could quite easily have passed for a Tim Sherwood team.

Garde will need to learn quickly and a heavy defeat could even be good for the Frenchman as he will gain a taste of what Aston Villa fans have been experiencing for some time already. And he won’t want to feel like that ever again!
