Eric Dier helped inspire Tottenham Hotspur to an important victory over Burnley at the weekend.

Former Premier League defender Danny Higginbotham has told The Sun that it must be a joy for Mauricio Pochettino to have a player like Eric Dier in his Tottenham squad following the 23-year-old’s contribution in the win over Burnley on Saturday.
Dier may primarily be a midfielder, but was excellent at centre-back once again at Turf Moor. Not only did he help Spurs keep a clean sheet against a Burnley side that has been impressive at home all season, but he also broke the deadlock shortly after the hour mark.
And after his brilliant display as part of the back three, Dier has received a huge amount of praise from Higginbotham, who suggested that Pochettino will be extremely grateful to have the England international in his ranks.
“Eric Dier showed his flexibility for Spurs at the weekend by moving from central midfield to defence seamlessly,” he told The Sun.

“It must be a joy for Mauricio Pochettino to have a player who can do both roles.”
Dier’s presence in the squad may make life slightly easier over the coming weeks as Tottenham suffered a double injury blow against the Clarets.

Midfield pair Harry Winks and Victor Wanyama both had to be replaced due to injury, so perhaps Pochettino will feel much better about the situation given that Dier could quite easily adjust to moving back into the middle of the park for their next game if required.
And with the victory opening up the title race in the Premier League ever so slightly when coupled with Chelsea’s defeat to Crystal Palace, Pochettino will be hoping that Dier maintains his current form as it will undoubtedly help the side put some more pressure on the leaders.
