Leeds United have successfully kept Marcelo Bielsa on board.

Marcelo Bielsa the head coach

Danny Higginbotham has told Football League World that Leeds United keeping Marcelo Bielsa could be the best piece of business they do this summer.

Leeds announced last week that Bielsa will continue as head coach for the 2019-20 campaign.

Speculation had mounted that other clubs were keen on the Argentine, who failed to lead United to Premier League promotion last season.

It’s a massive boost for the Whites and Higginbotham believes that Bielsa’s continued presence in West Yorkshire will make it easier to lure players to Elland Road over the coming months.

He told Football League World: “I’m a big believer in stability and continuity and it was vital that they were able to keep Bielsa at the club next season because what he did last season for Leeds.

“It could end up being Leeds’ best bit of business they do over the summer because he’s such an important figure at the club.”

Leeds finished with 83 points last season – their highest tally since 2010, when they won promotion from League One.

That, in addition to a bunch of other statistics, indicates that Bielsa is definitely the right man for the job, but will he have money to spend?

The Championship club’s owner Andrea Radrizzani has already said that he anticipates a ‘difficult’ transfer window, but time will tell what sort of budget Bielsa is working with.
