Everton signed Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea this summer.
Former Sunderland player and now a popular football pundit, Danny Higginbotham, notes in his column for The Sun that Gylfi Sigurdsson will take Everton to the next level.
The 27-year-old joined Everton this summer from Swansea City for a club-record transfer fee of £45 million, as reported by BBC.
Sigurdsson was arguably Swansea’s best player last season, scoring nine Premier League goals and laying off further 13 for others.
The Iceland international has already made a good start at his new club, scoring in the Europa League against Hajduk Split.
Higginbotham says that he is a big loss for Swansea, and likewise a huge coup for Ronald Koeman.
He adds that Sigurdsson has an eye for a pass, and is very good at set-piece delivery as well.
It remains to be seen whether Sigurdsson can make a similar impact for Everton as he did for Swansea, but one thing is for sure, expectations will be very high from him.
Everton have spent heavily this summer, and will be looking to break into the top four in the Premier League.
“He’s a big loss for Swansea and a coup for Koeman,” notes Higginbotham in his column for The Sun.
“He has an eye for a pass, provides goals and his set- pieces are excellent, whether it is delivery or going for goal himself. He can take Everton to the next level.”
