Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has starred this season.
Pundit Danny Higginbotham has told Sky Sports News (25/08, 11:25am) that he thinks Mateusz Klich has been a revelation for Leeds United this season.
The Whites are enjoying a revival under Marcelo Bielsa after a disappointing campaign last season, and no player typifies that more than Klich.
Having starred with FC Twente in the Netherlands, Leeds pounced to sign Klich in the summer of 2017, with many hoping that he could become a star in midfield.
However, the Pole was left out in the cold by Thomas Christiansen, and then sent out on loan to Utrecht for the second half of last season, impressing back in the Eredivisie.
Klich still wasn’t expected to make a considerable impact with Leeds as Bielsa arrived as manager, but he has enjoyed a stunning comeback under Bielsa, turning in superb displays as a box-to-box midfielder for the Whites.
The 28-year-old has started every single one of Leeds’ 15 league games this season, and boasts an impressive record of five goals and four assists in that time, proving to be the driving force from the Leeds midfield.
Few could have predicted this turnaround for Klich, but one pundit has hailed his upturn in fortunes this season, with Higginbotham praising the Polish international’s comeback.
Higginbotham has told Sky Sports News (25/08, 11:25am) that he thinks Klich has been ‘unbelievable’ this season, and suggested that his form has made him a favourite under Bielsa, and one of the first names on the team sheet for the Argentinian.
“He’s been nothing short of unbelievable,” said Higginbotham. “I think the thing is, he is in the team on merit now, but let’s not forget that earlier on in the season, he got his chance because of injuries to key midfielders, so he’s got his opportunity. Now he’s shown what he’s capable of, I’d say he’s probably one of the first names on Bielsa’s team sheet,” he added.
