Stoke City midfielder Glenn Whelan has been linked with Derby County and Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
Stoke City midfielder Glenn Whelan has not been linked not with one but two Championship clubs. Both Derby County and Aston Villa are reported to be interested in signing the 33-year-old in the summer transfer window.
Earlier this month, The Stoke Sentinel reported of Villa’s interest in the midfielder. It was reported that the Villans had made a bid of £500,000, and that Stoke want at least £1 million in order to part company with the Republic of Ireland international this summer.
The Daily Mail has since reported of Derby’s interest in the former Sheffield Wednesday man who has been at Stoke since 2008.

Former Derby and Stoke defender Danny Higginbotham has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to speculation linking Whelan with a move to the Rams in the summer transfer window and has given his verdict on the midfielder.
Higginbotham, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that the former Manchester City prospect would be a good signing for Derby, who will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season.
