Danny Gabbidon has left his old club West Ham United in little doubt what he thought of their performance in the 1-0 win over Hull City.
Gabbidon won the club’s prestigious Hammer of the Year award during a six-year stay in East London between 2005-2011.
He still keeps an eye on the goings on at his old club and remains close friends with his former West Ham and Wales teammate James Collins who is still at the club.
But Gabbidon did not hold back with his views on Twitter after paying his first visit to the club’s new London Stadium for the visit of Hull City on Saturday, a game the hosts somewhat fortuitously won 1-0.
Danny Gabbidon in his West Ham days
“They coulda and shoulda lost by 3 or 4!” Gabbidon posted on Twitter.
“I don’t even know where half the players were playing second half couldn’t figure it out! lol #whiff.
“Results more important than performance I know but you wonder how many results West Ham can pick up playing like that… they were awful today.”
Gabbidon then summed up his feelings with an emoji of a poo in the tweet as he delivered his withering assessment.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic with Mark Noble
Mike Phelan was refreshingly considered in his view given the Hammers only got the win thanks for a second dubious penalty in a week.
Hull hit the inside of the post no less than three times and afterwards Hammers supporters voted the post the Man of the Match on the club’s official Twitter feed.
Slaven Bilic will not care too much, though, as back-to-back wins lifted his side up to 13th place in the table.
While Gabbidon makes a salient point about the performance levels, Bilic has already stated results will help breed more confident performances in the long run.
