West Ham United have signed Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window.
Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has joined West Ham United from Bayer Leverkusen.
As announced on the Hammers’ official website, the 29-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a three-year deal and has cost £16 million in transfer fees.
Hernandez is a proven goalscorer who knows the Premier League inside out. The Mexico international striker was on the books of European giants Manchester United from 2010 until 2015 and spent the last two seasons at German club Bayer.
West Ham have needed a striker who can score 15 to 20 Premier League goals in a season for a while now, and the former Guadalajara star could put an end to that search.
Former West Ham defender Danny Gabbidon has given his take on signing of Hernandez from Bundesliga outfit Bayer on social networking site Twitter, stating that he would be great for Manuel Lanzini.
Argentina international attacking midfielder Lanzini will be the creator-in-chief for Slaven Bilic’s side next season, and the 24-year-old will now have someone clinical in front of him to create chances for.
Meanwhile, FC Porto defender Miguel Layun has sent a message to his Mexico international teammate Hernandez on Twitter, stating: “Hermanoooo so happy that you have returned to the Premier League @CH14_! You are a huge example for everyone. You are going to be incredible!”
