Mark Noble and Danny Drinkwater are among the Premier League’s standout midfielders this season.
Former West Ham United defender Danny Gabbidon has told a fan that he expects Mark Noble to earn an England call-up on Thursday, and believes Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater will follow.
Roy Hodgson names his latest Three Lions squad later today and, responding to a tweet asking him about Noble’s chances, Gabbidon wrote: ” Very good question… I expect to see him in there along with Drinkwater #comeonroydotherightthing”.
Gabbidon played alongside Noble for six seasons at Upton Park, while he and Drinkwater both played for Cardiff City albeit at different times.
Both players have been regulars in their sides this season, helping them to first and fifth respectively in the Premier League, but remain uncapped by their country.
At international level, where maintaining possession is so often crucial, few English midfielders compare to Noble and Drinkwater in terms of total passes per game and touches per game this season.

England face Germany and Holland later this month, with time running out for players on the periphery of Hodgson’s plans to stake their claims for Euro 2016.
But with qualifying regulars Jack Wilshere and Fabian Delph struggling for fitness and games respectively, it would surely be in the manager’s best interests to try out new combinations.
