West Ham United lost against Bournemouth in the Premier League at the weekend.

Portugal's Jose Fonte celebrates at the end of the game

Danny Gabbidon has stated on social networking site Twitter that Jose Fonte has been off the pace since joining West Ham United in the January transfer window.

Fonte moved to West Ham from Premier League rivals Southampton for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £8 million.

The Portugal international defender arrived at the London Stadium with a strong reputation, but he has struggled to play well for the Hammers.

West Ham have lost their last two Premier League matches, including a 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth away from home at the Vitality Stadium last weekend.

Former West Ham defender Gabbidon has suggested on Twitter that he does not think that Fonte has been playing well in recent weeks.

Gabbidon has also criticised Andre Ayew. The 27-year-old West Ham winger scored in the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth last Saturday afternoon.

West Ham are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 33 points from 28 matches.

The Hammers will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Leicester City at the London Stadium in the Premier League.
