Jack Ross’s Sunderland will face Portsmouth at the Stadium of Light in League One on Saturday.

Jack Ross’s Sunderland will take on Portsmouth at home in League One this afternoon.
According to The Chronicle, almost 40,000 tickets have been sold for the crunch fixture in the division.
Sunderland are fourth in the League One table at the moment with 84 points from 43 matches, two points behind third-placed Portsmouth.
Both the Black Cats and Pompey are still in the hunt for automatic promotion to the Championship at the end of the season, and Saturday afternoon’s match could be massive for the two sides.

Cowley, who has just guided Lincoln to automatic promotion from League Two to League One, has been impressed with the support that will be display at the Stadium of Light for the match between Sunderland and Portsmouth.
Cowley said on the EFL Matters show on Sky Sports Football on Thursday evening (7:20pm, April 25, 2019): “It’s hell of a game for a League One game.
“Where else in the world would you get 40,000 for a third-tier game? It’s incredible, and I suppose it shows the strength of English football.”
