Well, it looks like Arsenal will not be signing Danilo anytime soon.
If you remember, the 21-year-old Brazilian was heavily linked with a transfer to North London toward the end of the summer campaign.
Even in November, it was reported that Arsenal were weighing up a January offer for the Palmeiras attacker [Jorge Nicola on YouTube].
However, it would appear as if the Gunners’ interest has been put on the backburner for now.
That’s because the player was the subject of talks between his club and Nottingham Forest last night, with Fabrizio Romano adding that the Emirates Stadium outfit are no longer in negotiations.
He told Caught Offside: “The final fee being discussed is close to €20m. Monaco in the race too but NFFC working hard to get it sealed. Arsenal discussed him internally in the summer but there are no talks now.”

Danilo is a defensive midfielder [Transfermarkt] and it’ll be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta and Edu have their eye on another player, instead.
Honestly, Arsenal still need covering in this position because any serious injury to Thomas Partey and, well, the North Londoners, bidding for a first Premier League title since 2004, may be in trouble.
It’ll be fascinating to see if Danilo does join Forest and is a success in the Premier League.
Even if he is, Arsenal will be let off the hook – but only if they wind up signing a better option, that is.
