West Ham United should consider a move for the recently released Englishman.

Manuel Pellegrini manager

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini will surely be keen to bolster his attacking ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

The Hammers do have useful options such as Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic, but it could be argued that they need a ruthless finisher, if they are to crack the top seven next term.

And with this in mind, West Ham should consider a move for Daniel Sturridge, who is available on a free transfer after being released from Liverpool.

The 29-year-old has struggled with injuries over the last few years, so signing him would obviously involve a slight risk for the Hammers, although it would it would be a reduced one considering the fact that he’s available for free.

Sturridge, when on top of his game, is one of the best finishers in the game, and his career record of 111 goals in 312 appearances should not be underestimated.

The 26-capped England international will be desperate to play regularly and prove that he still has what it takes to play at the very highest level.

West Ham fans love an out-and-out number nine, and if he can stay fit for an entire season, he could be a real hit at the London Stadium.

Sturridge has the kind of ability that could take West Ham to another level, but it will just depend upon whether Pellegrini is prepared to take a punt on a player who has become notorious for his injury problems.
