Liverpool have their work cut out with some tough away fixtures early on next season, but Daniel Sturridge is excited to get going.
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has taken to Twitter following the announcement of the Reds’ Premier League fixtures for next season.
Sturridge was unable to take part in large parts of the previous campaign due to injury, and ended the season with just 18 appearances under his belt and five goals and two assists in that time. But he will be hoping to put those woes behind him and fire Brendan Rodgers’ side back up the table next season.
Not that it will be easy, with Liverpool’s first seven away matches enough to send shivers of trepidation down the spines of their fans.
By December the Reds will have visited Stoke City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City and they will need Sturridge fit and firing for those encounters.
On Wednesday morning, Sturridge took to social media to write: “Just saw next season’s fixtures; I’m excited right now. Working hard to help bring my team some success next season.”
Sturridge’s injury absence is a big reason for Liverpool failing to qualify for the Champions League but a year outside Europe’s elite competition could see them refocus and push for domestic success.
