Daniel Sturridge has predicted that AC Milan will knock Tottenham out of the Champions League on Wednesday night as the two sides go head to head in the second leg – predicting that Milan will score at Tottenham’s stadium.

Antonio Conte is back in the dugout for the match, the first time he is attendance after watching his side lose 4-1 to Leicester City. Since then, Spurs have beaten Chelsea and West Ham – but lost to Sheffield United and then Wolves.

With Spurs now out of the FA Cup and the race for the top four becoming worryingly close, the only chance of a trophy is the Champions League – and even that is almost zero. They first, have to overcome a stuttering Milan side.

Milan secured a 1-0 win in Italy in the first leg, Brahim Diaz scoring early on. With home advantage, Tottenham are likely to be slight favourites but if Milan score – then Spurs will need three to win. Sturridge doubts they are capable.

“I do believe Milan will score a goal. Can Tottenham score 3? I’m unsure about that, so for that reason I’m going to go with Milan,” Sturridge said, in a video posted on his Instagram page ahead of Wednesday night’s fixtures.

It is a good point. Spurs have hardly been solid at the back this season and while they have only conceded two goals in their last four games, they desperately need to keep Milan at bay. But Milan have quality in abundance.

Rafael Leao is deemed one of the best left-sided wingers in Europe right now. Olivier Giroud is said to be suffering with flu but if he is fit, Eric Dier has to be at the top of his game. Diaz showed Spurs what he is capable of doing.

If Spurs can keep a clean sheet, you would back Conte’s men to get the job done given the attacking talent Spurs have. But in the system they play, can we really foresee Spurs scoring three times? It seems rather unlikely.
