Daniel Sturridge must regret not picking Newcastle United in the January transfer window now, after his disastrous spell at West Bromwich Albion.

Newcastle and West Brom were both competing for Sturridge at the star to the year, but the Liverpool striker picked the Baggies, as the Chronicle reported.

Sturridge wanted to link up with Alan Pardew, as he felt West Brom’s attacking style would suit him more.

However, Sturridge would surely have been better off at Newcastle now.

The England international forward’s move to West Brom has been nothing short of a disaster for player or club.

Albion were banking on Sturridge being the man to fire them to safety, but injury has once again struck.

The 28-year-old played just three times for West Brom, before being sidelined, and he has been out ever since.

The Baggies have lost every match that Sturridge has been at the club for, and are now destined to be relegated.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have been in fine form and begun to climb the table.

Newcastle are now seven points clear of the drop zone, and should be confident of staying up.

And although there is no guarantee that Sturridge wouldn’t have got injured if he did move to St. James’ Park, there is no way that a switch to Newcastle could have gone any worse than his transfer to West Brom has.
