Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane has raved about Daniel Oyegoke on the club’s official website after signing him from Arsenal.

What’s the story?

Arsenal have announced on their official website that Oyegoke has left to join Brentford.

The 18-year-old defender joined the Arsenal academy as a forward, but he transitioned to a defender.

The youngster moved to the Gunners’ academy when he was 14 after leaving Barnet.

Oyegoke played for the Arsenal Under-18 and Under-23 sides, and he has now decided to move to Brentford.

The England Under-18 international defender will play for the Brentford B team initially.

The Bees have announced on their official website that they have paid Arsenal “an undisclosed fee”.

What Neil MacFarlane has said

Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane told the club’s official website: “I think Daniel is a fantastic signing for the B Team.

“He’s been at Arsenal for a number of years, and we’ve seen him do particularly well for England recently.

“We want to keep improving the B Team every year, and a signing like Daniel can definitely help us to do that.

“Daniel is a modern full back who likes to get forward and he has the ability to create for the team. He’s a fantastic character and will be a very good addition to the group.”

What Arsenal fans are saying

As you can see from the tweets below, Arsenal fans are disappointed that the Gunners have sold Oyegoke.

Well, some of them anyway.

Brentford are a good club who give chances to young players.

If Oyegoke does well for the Bees’ B team, then he could progress to the senior side.

Brentford will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
