It’s apparent Tottenham Hotspur want to sign talented young midfielders as a priority.

Last week The Daily Mail reported Tottenham had already drawn up a transfer blueprint, to target young stars capable of walking into their starting line up.
Subsequent reports appear to back this up, and make a particular position clear, central midfield.
Calciomercato report Spurs want to sign Roma youngster Nicolo Zaniolo.
Portuguese outlet CM Jornal now links Tottenham with a deal for Benfica’s Gedson Fernandes.
Fernandes is 20, and Zaniolo 19. Both are central attacking midfielders, and have the potential to become elite talents.
Each could expect to become regulars for Tottenham.
Whether Tottenham are successful in pursuit of either remains to be seen, but their intent is both telling and encouraging.
Midfield is clearly a position where Spurs need to improve, having sold Mousa Dembele in January, and been hit by injuries this season.
Bringing in Zaniolo, Fernandes, or a player of the same quality, perhaps even Ajax’s Donny van de Beek, would be a big statement.
