Tottenham Hotspur are due to move into their new stadium for the start of the 2018/19 season.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy sat down for an exclusive interview with NBC’s Roger Bennett, and expressed his excitement at the prospect of his club’s move to their new 61,000 capacity stadium, shown below via the club’s official website.

These are exciting times for Tottenham fans, with their club currently sitting in second position in the Premier League table, and the squad arguably the strongest that it has been since they last won a league title in 1961.

The move to the new stadium is expected to help the Lilywhites bridge the gap between themselves and Europe’s elite band of clubs, from a financial aspect at least.

The challenge for Spurs will be to replicate the red-hot White Hart Lane atmosphere at the new arena – something easier said than done.

And Levy explained to NBC’s Roger Bennett how much thought and attention went into that aspect of the development process, shown below via TottenhamHotspur.com:

“The first challenge we gave our architects was ‘how can we retain our atmosphere’ that currently exists here at White Hart Lane – because it’s a very tight bowl. We are five metres closer to the pitch from a comparable stadium in north London… so that’s the first thing. The second thing is we’re the only stadium in the UK which will have 17,000 seats in a single stand.”

Arsenal went through the transition of their stadium move more than a decade ago, and despite Arsene Wenger’s critics, he managed to keep them in the Champions League throughout the entirety of that period.

And Mauricio Pochettino will have to do the same thing to help provide Tottenham with the platform from which they can grow into one of the world’s biggest clubs.
