Tottenham Hotspur could lose playmaker Christian Eriksen this summer.

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is seeking a huge £200million fee for midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer.

Eriksen, 27, has been a key player for Spurs ever since his 2013 move from Ajax, becoming one of the top playmakers in Europe.

The Dane has notched seven goals and 11 assists for Spurs this season, though some of his recent performances have left Tottenham fans majorly underwhelmed.

Those displays come at a time where many are concerned about Eriksen’s future, as he is out of contract in 2020 and therefore heading towards the final year of his contract.

The Daily Star claim that Real Madrid want Eriksen, but Daniel Levy wants a huge £200million fee, around 20 times for Tottenham paid for him six years again.

That would be world-record fee, and whilst that’s a great stance to take, it seems doomed to fail given Eriksen’s contract status.

Surely no club would pay a world-record fee for a player they could get for free in just over a year, and again, that may seem great; that would leave Eriksen at Spurs for the time-being.

Yet the reality would be that Eriksen really could move on for absolutely nothing, and with that fear in mind, Spurs would surely consider bids in the £100million to £150million region.

Hopefully Spurs can get a new deal with Eriksen sorted soon, but there’s almost no way Spurs will receive £200million for the playmaker this summer, with a much cheaper deal or free move seemingly far more likely.
