Daniel Levy’s plan with Grealish could be doomed to failure like Ross Barkley efforts

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to ‘wait and see’ over Jack Grealish.

Unimpressed with Aston Villa’s valuation of Jack Grealish, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly devised a strategy to try and get him on the cheap.

The Daily Mail write that Levy is confident Villa’s asking price will lower if he waits until late in the transfer window.

Hanging around until the final fortnight is a gamble, and strategy which has been proven as a failure.

Tottenham employed the same strategy last summer with regard to Ross Barkley, with SkySports reporting on June 23 2017 that Levy would wait for Everton’s asking price to lower as the transfer window went on.

This never happened, despite Barkley’s injury.

Other teams, namely Chelsea, began to panic and put in a bid, trumping Tottenham’s interest. Barkley would late do a U-turn and sign with the Blues six months later.

Taking a similar risk again with Grealish is unnecessary, especially with Chelsea already reported to be lurking, with TeamTalk reporting they could even loan the midfielder back to Villa.

Levy can wait it out if he wants, but Tottenham are likely to end up missing out if he does.

While he may consider Grealish to just not be worth the money, if manager Mauricio Pochettino wants him, sooner or later its time to stop haggling and start paying.
