Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be on the radar of Manchester United now.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy may well have played a blinder in contract negotiations with Mauricio Pochettino, as he did not insert a release clause in the Argentine manager’s contract.

The Guardian have reported how Spurs boss Pochettino is one of the few managers in the Premier League who do not have a release clause inserted in their deal.

And while that piece of news was not widely reported at the time Pochettino signed a new deal, it could now be crucial to Tottenham.

Manchester United are expected to make a move for Tottenham’s manager at the end of the season, but Levy is now free to demand as much as he wants.

Levy is famously a tough negotiator and it is almost a guarantee that Tottenham would not let Pochettino go cheaply.

Pochettino does not have an agent and felt no need to demand a release clause when negotiating over a contract.

And Levy may well have performed a stroke of genius by not inserting one, as he can force United to pay over the odds.

Tottenham won’t want to lose their manager for any price, but with Levy in charge, Spurs fans can at least rest assured that if Pochettino does leave it will be for big money.
