The Tottenham Hotspur winger has been linked with a summer switch to Swansea City.
According to a report from Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are holding out for £15million for Nacer Chadli this summer, with Swansea City seriously considering a move for the Belgian winger.
The problem is, that would be more than double Tottenham’s £7million outlay back in 2013, when the wide man moved to White Hart Lane from FC Twente.
Such inflation would make sense if Chadli had impressed during his stint in England, but barring a decent return of 13 goals in his second season, the 26-year-old has flattered to deceive.
Last term he was little more than a bit-part player in the league and his form suffered as a consequence, and yet there is a distinct chance Tottenham could get the £15million being discussed for the simple fact that chairman Daniel Levy has a habit of getting the best possible deal for outgoing players.
That was most notable when Levy managed to convince Guangzhao Evergrande to part with £10million for Paulinho when the Brazilian was worth considerably less after a string of poor showings in North London.
Chadli has more to offer if he can rediscover his best form, as his 18 goals and 11 assists in his last season in the Netherlands proved. But this is the Premier League and for now at least he looks short of the quality needed to become a bona fide star in the division.
If Tottenham ultimately manage to make an £8million profit on Chadli their chairman would be out-Levying even himself.
