‘Daniel Levy would have to leave the country’: Tottenham sent transfer warning

Stevie Nicol says Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would have to ‘leave the country’ if he sold Harry Kane to Chelsea.

The Liverpool legend debunked suggestions that Harry Kane could swap the colours of Tottenham for their bitter rivals across London.

Whilst Tottenham’s biggest rivals have always been Arsenal, the relationship and feeling between Spurs and Chelsea has always had a bitter taste to it.

Whatever fans think of Daniel Levy, one thing is for sure, he is a tough cookie to deal with and he comes across as stubborn as any other chairman in world football.

Therefore, it would be a huge surprise if he picked up the phone and said ‘yes’ to Chelsea, if they wanted to sign the England captain given that they are looking for that number nine this summer.

That certainly was the thought process from Stevie Nicol, who was discussing Kane’s future after his side were smoked by Newcastle United at the weekend, as he told ESPN.

“He’s not going straight from Chelsea to Tottenham,” said Nicol. “I would suggest, right off the bat, that however badly people think of Daniel Levy, if he sold him to Chelsea, Oh my Goodness, he would need to move out of the country.

“For that reason alone, it wouldn’t happen. We were sat here listening about ‘how much of a one-club man Harry Kane is’. There’s no way that Harry is going to go straight to Chelsea from Spurs, if he is this ‘one-club man’ and he loves Spurs. Everything about Spurs. The reason he hasn’t moved is that he loves Spurs.

“To go straight from there to Chelsea? No! But, as I said, the first reason. Daniel Levy will have to up-sticks and move.”

HARRY KANE TO CHELSEA WOULD CAUSE CHAOS

Tottenham fans are preparing for Kane’s exit and they probably feel, given how the club has operated since Mauricio Pochettino’s exit, that he is better off elsewhere.

If that’s Manchester United, or abroad, whilst there will be a sense of disappointment from fans, they would agree he deserves better, but going to Chelsea would be a big no, no.

Kane himself would still be respected by the fanbase, but those in the Tottenham boardroom, who are already under pressure, would get even more verbal pelters.
