Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is unwilling to sell defender Davinson Sanchez for less than £17m.

That is according to a report from L’Equipe.

Amid interest from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes, the French outlet claims that Levy is reluctant to accept an offer for Davinson Sanchez that is below €20m, which is about £17m.

The same report also claims that Borussia Dortmund have had a loan bid for the centre-back turned down by Tottenham.

Sanchez has appeared in just one of Spurs’ three Premier League games so far this season, coming off the bench in their 2-2 draw with Brentford.

£17m is a fair price for Davinson Sanchez

While Rennes may not be able to pay £17m for Sanchez, a European giant like Dortmund should be able to. And considering what they could be getting, Tottenham are being quite reasonable here.

He is an experienced defender who has been playing in the Premier League for years now, so this is no novice that Dortmund or Rennes would be buying.

The Colombia international can also be quite strong in the air. For example, in the Champions League back in the 2019/20 season, he won 3.8 aerial duels per game, which was the highest average in Tottenham’s squad (WhoScored).

It is important to remember as well that Spurs paid £40m to sign Sanchez from Ajax, so of course they will want to make a bit of money back.

Ultimately, even with Sanchez’s contract expiring next summer, £17m is not a crazy amount of money to ask for, especially when Dortmund are one of the suitors.

Still, it looks like no one is willing to pay that, so either Levy lowers the asking price or Sanchez remains part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad and sees out his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
