Daniel Levy needs reminding of his promise, as Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer plans become clearer

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a series of signings which would be fairly underwhelming.

Tottenham Hotspur’s current transfer plans hardly offer excitement that they are about to be taken to the next level.

Daniel Levy told ESPN that Tottenham’s new stadium would propel them to the next level, and hinted at big transfers.

“It is Tottenham’s time to shine now,” he said. We have been competing against teams with matchday revenues that far outstrip ours and a restricted capacity that has meant our growing fanbase has not been able to get to games.

“The new stadium will take us to another level globally.”

But, right now, it seems as if Spurs’ transfer policy has not altered drastically to welcome in their new home.

Tottenham are set to move into their newly-built stadium next term, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side have continued to be linked with solid squad players, rather than marquee signings.

Amadou Diawara, Luke Shaw, Ben Mee and Jonny Evans have all been linked, and the latest player of interest to Spurs is said to be Lucas Tousart of Lyon.

Calcio Mercato claim that Tousart is on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer, and while he is a talent he would hardly take their team on to the next level.

Spurs’ starting line-up is so strong than finding upgrades is a very difficult task.

But there was a hope that Levy would loosen the purse strings after Spurs’ move to their new stadium was completed.

However, their initial transfer plans for the summer feel very familiar, with top up-and-coming talents seemingly targeted, over high profile additions.
