Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy really needs to take note of Mauricio Pochettino’s latest comments to Football.London about what must change in future.

Tottenham are currently building their new stadium, and as a result they have not had the funds to spend that many of their Premier League rivals have enjoyed.

Spurs failed to make an addition in the summer, and Pochettino has admitted that January signings are unlikely.

Tottenham are still competing for the title, after a remarkable first half of the campaign.

But Pochettino admits that Tottenham simply cannot afford to stand still, if other sides around them continue to strengthen.

“Of course we’re doing a fantastic job but if we want to be real contenders we need to operate in a different way in the future,” Pochettino said.

“At the moment it’s fantastic, so far so good, but we’ll see if it’s enough to challenge and be consistent in the next five years operating in that way, if we’re capable to fight with the big sides in the same way that we’ve fought in the last four or five years.”

Pochettino has stated that he could stay at Tottenham for the rest of his career, if the opportunity arises.

However, Levy really needs to note Pochettino’s words, as it is becoming clear that he will need to be backed with funds in the near future.

Tottenham are next in action later this evening, when they take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
