Daniel Levy must prove to Thomas Tuchel that Tottenham Hotspur will build a title-winning team for him to replace Antonio Conte. The German is a candidate for their next manager.

That is according to The Sun, which now reports that Tottenham view Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino as the favourites to replace Conte. Spurs are exploring their options for a likely change at the helm in the summer with the Italian out of contract at the end of the season.

Tottenham are no longer inclined to give Conte a new contract after crashing out of the FA Cup and Champions League. Now, the north London club’s focus is on finishing the Premier League campaign in the top four. They currently sit in fourth place but having played more.

Tuchel and Pochettino are the favourites to replace Conte at Tottenham

Pochettino replacing Conte as manager of Tottenham would be a return to the club for the Argentine. But Levy has reservations about re-hiring the 51-year-old he fired in November 2019. While the Spurs chief will also face challenges should he opt to chase Tuchel instead.

Levy must show Tuchel that Tottenham will back the 49-year-old in the transfer market to build a title-winning team. The ex-Chelsea boss, who remains out of work since being fired in September, will only consider replacing Conte if he believes Spurs will give him the tools.

What must Levy do to convince the German to be their next manager?

Tuchel is keen to work in England again following his Champions League-winning spell with Chelsea. But only taking over an elite team having also led Paris Saint-Germain to the final of UEFA’s premier competition would interest him. Bayern Munich edged PSG 1-0 in 2020.

Replacing Conte as the next manager of Tottenham is a job that appeals to Tuchel, reports the Evening Standard. But Ben Jacobs also claims Levy is unconvinced the two-time Ligue 1 winner at PSG is the right fit. He has reservations on Tuchel taking over in north London.

Tuchel, who Ben Chilwell called an ‘unbelievable manager’ whilst at Chelsea, won 62 of his 99 games at Stamford Bridge. They also scored 196 goals under the German and conceded 105 in all competitions. Now, Levy must convince Tuchel he can add titles with Tottenham.
