It’s been over a month since Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho, and we still have no idea who the former Manchester United boss’ replacement will be.

The likes of Scott Parker, Graham Potter and Nuno Espirito Santo have all been linked, but if we’re being honest, they’re wouldn’t be the most inspiring appointments.

Daniel Levy has a big job on his hands when it comes to getting Spurs back to where they want to be and also when it comes to getting fans back on his side.

Indeed, we’ve seen plenty of protests from supporters asking for Levy to step down, but perhaps the chairman could ease the pressure being put on him with one appointment.

Spurs have remarkably been linked with a move for Mauricio Pochettino in the last 24 hours, and we can’t help but feel that this move would solve a number of problems for Levy at Spurs.

Bringing Pochettino back would undoubtedly get fans back on side. After all, Poch is one of the most beloved figures in Spurs’ recent history, and while it wouldn’t make up for Levy’s attempt to get Tottenham into the Super League, it would certainly be the first step towards mending the frayed relationship between the board and the fanbase.

Not only would it get fans back on side, it may also be key in terms of convincing some players about the direction the club is headed in.

It’s no secret these days that Harry Kane wants assurances that the club is headed in the right direction and is ready to push on, and while Pochettino didn’t win any trophies during his first spell in charge at Spurs, the fact remains that he’s still one of the most highly-rated young managers on the planet and he took Spurs to the lofty heights of a Champions League final.

Meanwhile, someone like Dele Alli, who thrived under the Argentine the first time around, would likely feel a lot happier at Spurs if he’s re-united with a coach who knows how to get the best out of him.

Amazingly, bringing Pochettino back seems like a distinct possibility, and aside from the fact that he’s a great tactician, bringing him back seems to make a lot of sense due to the fact it would appease both fans and players.
