Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy did not let Antonio Conte sign Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers before the wing-back went to Barcelona in January 2022.
That’s according to a report in The Athletic published this morning.
The report has claimed that Tottenham head coach Conte wanted to sign Traore from Premier League rivals Wolves in January 2022.
However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was “unconvinced”, according to the report.
The 27-year-old Spain international winger went to Barcelona on loan in January 2022.
Traore, described as “electric” by Arsenal legend Martin Keown on talkSPORT (January 24, 2020) and “explosive” by former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves on MatchDay Extra on Premier League Productions (04/03/23 at 8:45 pm), is now back at Wolves and is out of contract at the Wanderers at the end of the season.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham could sack former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Conte as their manager following his extraordinary outburst last weekend.
Traore has scored 10 goals and created 26 big chances in 185 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

“The first time this split came into the public eye was the January 2022 window,” reports The Athletic.
“It did not start well: Conte wanted Adama Traore as a wing-back, Levy was unconvinced, Traore went to Barcelona instead.”
