West Ham completed the signing of Jordan Hugill from Preston on deadline day.
Former West Ham United defender Daniel Gabbidon reckons Jordan Hugill is a “decent” signing on Twitter after David Moyes raided his former side Preston North End to land the target man.
The 25-year-old joined the Hammers with just hours remaining in the transfer window last month, putting pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal at the London Stadium.
The powerful striker was a target for the likes of Crystal Palace after scoring 10 goals in 29 league and cup outings for Alex Neil’s Preston during the first half of the season.
Gabbidon, who played for the east Londoners for six years between 2005 and 2011, gave fans his verdict on the type of player Hugill is and what fans can expect for him when he finally pulls on the claret and blue jersey.
The Hammers were frustrated in the January transfer window as they looked to bring in a midfielder, only to be foiled in their attempts to sign the likes of Leander Dendoncker, Tom Cairney and Jonjo Shelvey.
They did manage to land Joao Mario on loan from Inter Milan, but with an extensive injury list that includes the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Manuel Lanzini and Andy Carroll, Hugill could become an important signing from the off.
Hugill, who has been given the number 12 shirt, could make his debut for the Hammers against Brighton as Moyes takes his side to the south coast ahead of Saturday afternoon’s clash.
