Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has hinted that defender Maximilian Wober is on his way out of Elland Road.

Maximilian Wober could be on his way out of Leeds United amid new comments from boss Daniel Farke.

Leeds faced Monaco in a pre-season friendly in York on Saturday afternoon, with the Ligue 2 side claiming a 2-0 win.

Wissam Ben Yedder and Kevin Volland were on the scoresheet for Monaco in a comfortable win.

Leeds won’t be too worried about this result but boss Farke will be anxious to get his transfer business moving – both in and out.

Ethan Ampadu has arrived and whilst more signings are needed, Farke will want clarity on some outgoings too.

A number of players are attracting major interest and one could be nearing an exit in defender Maxmilian Wober.

Daniel Farke comments on Maximilian Wober exit

Wober wasn’t involved against Monaco and it seems that he is moving on from Leeds.

Farke told Leeds Live that Wober didn’t play on Saturday because of a ‘transfer situation’ surrounding the defender.

“You’ve mentioned Max Wober, yes it has to do with the transfer situation and also the contract situation,” said Farke. “We will await what the outcome is over the next days, but that’s the reason he wasn’t involved today,” he added.

Wober’s destination appears to be Farke’s last club – Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay claims that Wober is now close to joining Gladbach on a season-long loan deal.

A permanent option is being discussed between the two clubs with Wober potentially having a long-term future in Germany.

Leeds allegedly planned to keep Wober but the defender has made it clear that he fancies going to Gladbach.

Leeds paid around £11million to sign Wober from Red Bull Salzburg, reuniting him with former boss Jesse Marsch.

The American was sacked just a few weeks later though and Wober now appears to be on his way out after just a few months at Elland Road.
