Steven Naismith has played for Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers and is open to returning to the Gers, who are under the charge of Graeme Murty.
Naismith, who is struggling for playing time at Norwich in the Championship in England at the moment, was on the books of Rangers from 2007 until 2012.
The 31-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, started his professional club football career at Kilmarnock, before moving to Everton and subsequently to Norwich in 2016.
The Scotland international recently told The Daily Mail a return to Ibrox club Rangers would appeal to him, and suggested that he would look at options in the January transfer window, having also worked with the Gers’ caretaker-manager Graeme Murty at Norwich.
Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has responded to those comments made by Naismith and has praised him for his professionalism.
Farke has also suggested that Naismith has yet to make an approach to the Canaries and ask for a move away from Carrow Road in the January transfer window, but he seems to be open to the idea of letting him leave if he so wishes.
“There is no big will from us to see him leave the club,” Farke told The Eastern Daily Press. “If he comes with the wish to go on loan and find a new club we don’t say we will not speak about it. We will be honest and direct and right now he hasn’t told me he wants to leave.
“If he feels he wants to search for a different challenge we will speak about it,” added Farke. “We have had an honest and direct chat in the last few days.
“At his age it is not so easy when you are out. You want to play football. I told him, ‘Listen, I am totally convinced by you but I can’t promise you anything’. He is an experienced guy.”
Farke continued: “I read his (Naismith’s) interview and I thought it was professional. If you are successful in football or not as a player sometimes it is about fine margins.
“If I was able to paint a professional footballer he would look like Steven Naismith. He has an unbelievable attitude. He is a big leader. “
